New teeth and Nest Boxes (again !)

Tom takes centre stage this week - his first tooth came through last Thursday and he mastered rolling from his tummy back onto his back again. Both pretty major events in the life of a 5 month old !

We've spent the early part of this week around the house and garden. We've had lovely weather for the last couple of days, so have been out Springwatching.. Bumblebees, blossom and daffodils have been recorded. We're on a quest to find frogspawn this week and next..

Joy and Eddie (next door neighbours) came over today for a run around the garden (Eddie) and a cup of coffee (Joy). Ella and Eddie then came in to do some Happy Mais creations. It's ideal for children of 3+ because it's minimal mess - the mais pieces look like coloured cheesy wotsits and they attach to each other with water. So you just need a handful of mais pieces and a wet sponge - no glue, glitter, scissors etc so constant supervision not necessary.

Karl put the robin nest box up this evening, so we will be keeping a watchful eye on any visiting robins. One of our neighbours is a keen natural historian, so he came over and gave his expert opinion on a suitable site for the box. Actually when I first met him, he mentioned he was a "natural historian" which saved me great embarrassment - I always get mixed up between a naturalist and a naturist, so it saved me from making inappropriate jokes about naked badmington.

Ella has been saying some very funny things today. Joy and I were talking together while Ella and Eddie were creating their mais models, and Ella said (to no-one in particular) "oh yes, but we don't mention that though, do we ?" Joy's face was a picture. She's also been starting sentences with "Well, quite honestly.." eg "Well, quite honestly, I don't want to brush my teeth". OK !
